Specialties: Nestled in the heart of Mayfair just off historic Berkeley Sq, The Only Running Footman is a pub that recalls the days when aristocrats’ carriages were preceded by manservants on foot, whose duties included carrying lights after dusk and paying toll-keepers. The Georgian aristocrats of Mayfair employed a large number of these men, who used to meet at a tavern known as the Running Horse in Charles Street, now The Only Running Footman. – Established in 1749. Built in 1749, this tavern was originally named ‘The Running Horse’, a popular hangout for the footmen of Mayfair where it eventually got its name. In 2007, after a much needed renovation the pub reopens, complete with a fine dining restaurant, large private dining room and chefs table room
Specialties: The Queen’s Head is a small independent pub in the heart of London’s West End. Capturing all things British, we pride ourselves upon stocking locally sourced ale’s. If you’re looking for a quality drink, a vibrant atmosphere, a building soaked in history and friendly staff then this is the place to be. Unfortunately our kitchen is currently closed. Established in 2011. First built in 1738, The Queen’s Head has long been the thriving community hub of Piccadilly Circus. Back then it was vast, encompassing the Piccadilly Theatre next door.
It is fair to say that The Queen’s Head has changed a fair bit since the 18th Century, when it traded in cognac and coal, served as a convenient place to hitch and re-shoe your horse and provided room and board to weary travellers.
There isn’t enough room to swing a cat in The Queen’s Head today, (let alone ride a horse) but while we might be small in stature we have maintained a big personality. It is a rare independent, gem of a pub in the heart of the West End
