DineSpotter is designed to help diners discover restaurants, cafés and takeaways while giving food businesses a place to showcase their restaurant.
These Community Guidelines explain the standards we expect from users, restaurant owners and anyone contributing content to DineSpotter.
Information and content submitted to DineSpotter should be genuine and accurate.
If you submit a review or rating, it should reflect your genuine experience with the business.
Do not:
Submit fake or misleading reviews.
Pretend to have visited or ordered from a restaurant when you have not.
Deliberately provide false information about a restaurant.
Create content intended to unfairly manipulate a restaurant’s rating or reputation.
We want DineSpotter to be useful and welcoming.
Do not submit content that contains:
Threats or harassment.
Hate speech or discriminatory abuse.
Personal attacks.
Obscene or deliberately offensive material.
Spam or repeated unwanted promotional content.
Disagreement and criticism are allowed, but they should focus on the relevant experience rather than attacking individuals.
Reviews should focus on your experience with the restaurant or food business.
Relevant topics may include:
Food and drink.
Customer service.
Restaurant atmosphere.
Value and pricing.
Ordering or collection experiences.
Other aspects directly related to your experience with the business.
Avoid using reviews to pursue unrelated disputes, personal grievances or arguments that do not help other diners understand the restaurant experience.
Restaurant owners and authorised representatives should provide accurate information when creating, claiming or managing a DineSpotter listing.
Do not:
Claim a restaurant you do not own or have authority to represent.
Impersonate another business or individual.
Deliberately provide misleading opening hours, menus, contact information or other business details.
Upload content you do not have permission to use.
Attempt to manipulate reviews or ratings through fake accounts or misleading submissions.
Only upload photographs, menus, logos or other content that you have the right or permission to use.
Content should be relevant to the restaurant or dining experience.
Do not upload content that:
Infringes copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights.
Contains unlawful material.
Reveals another person’s private information without appropriate permission.
Is deliberately misleading or unrelated to the restaurant.
Contains malicious links, spam or harmful material.
Respect the privacy of others.
Do not publish another person’s private or sensitive information through reviews, comments, photographs or other submissions where you do not have a lawful reason or appropriate permission to do so.
This can include private telephone numbers, email addresses, home addresses, financial information or other information that should not reasonably be made public.
Reviews should represent genuine customer experiences.
Restaurant owners, employees or people closely connected with a business should not present promotional content as an independent customer review.
Businesses should not offer incentives specifically in exchange for misleading, fabricated or predetermined positive reviews.
If you believe a restaurant listing, review, photograph or other content on DineSpotter is inaccurate, inappropriate or violates these guidelines, please contact us.
When reporting content, provide enough information for us to identify and review the relevant material.
We may investigate reports and take appropriate action where necessary.
